Diameter: 3.25" Stoneware clay with oxides brushed on and high fired All of the following were made from solid clay balls and then hollowed out and carved. While this one appears to have an unbroken surface, others proudly show their hollow interiors. Diameter: 2.5" Terracotta clay with a stoneware clay suspension buffed on, high fired
Diameter: 2" Terracotta clay high fired This little beauty has 6 circular holes perfectly spaced and smaller peep holes throughout. Pictures cannot do these pieces justice, holding one in our hand has an entirely different feeling. Diameter: 2.75" Stoneware with a high fire glaze, dipped and sponged off This was an experimental piece. While the ball looses a little bit of its feeling of roundness, there is something intriguing about the slithering trails of clay reconvening into larger more stagnant bulbs of clay.
Diameter: 2.75" Terracotta, buffed to a shine and high fired This is my favorite piece. There is something about it that is so clean and feels so effortless. Once again, this piece features 6 evenly spaced circular holes, giving it the illusion of airiness. Diameter: 4.25" Terracotta clay with a stoneware clay suspension buffed on, high fired This one is a hefty piece. The surprise component of this ball is that if you shake it gently you will hear that it is also a rattle. I love that this piece ties in visual, tactile, an auditory components.
